I have trouble grasping the fact some think they can forget,
That what scarred my people just a century ago doesn’t matter.
It still transformed how we act in the modern day.
Whenever I gaze upon my family tree I see,
I see how many of my relatives either fled or died a gruesome death,
I see how small the Jewish population has become,
I see how we have scattered about, just to survive,
How can you forget?
You cannot simply move on without addressing the past,
To address the past is to fix the future,
What do you think happens when you don’t address the past?
I can tell you,
We just continue the cycle of violence,
Never learning from our mistakes.
