{"id":239,"date":"2026-04-30T22:41:34","date_gmt":"2026-04-30T22:41:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wellbewriteback.org\/?page_id=239"},"modified":"2026-04-30T22:41:34","modified_gmt":"2026-04-30T22:41:34","slug":"the-forest-and-the-king","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/wellbewriteback.org\/?page_id=239","title":{"rendered":"The Forest and the King"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">by Ethan<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a far off kingdom there lived a king,<br>\n By the kingdom there was a forest with trees old as time,<br>\n The King had a tunic with a deep shade of purple,<br>\n bars and coins made of pure gold,<br>\n A fair wife who was fertile with an eir,<br>\n He had it all, almost a little too much,<br>\n One day he became greedy,<br>\n And ordered hunters and lumberjacks to cut down the trees and slaughter the animals of the forest,<br>\nIt was a grim day,<br>\nThe tree that was the oldest and biggest went down first,<br>\nThe villagers called it grandfather,<br>\nIt went down in a crash, <br>\nGrandfather and the other trees were cut down and sold for money,<br>\nBut no bad deed goes unpunished, <br>\nSo the next morning the king went to put on his tunic and crown,<br>\nThe rare jewels on his tunic shone in the sunlight, <br>\nAnd his beautiful lavender tunic,<br>\nTurned into a potato sack in an ugly shade of brown,<br>\n\u201cThe court will make a fool of my garments!\u201d the king screamed in horror like a little boy, \u201cAt least I still have my wealth!\u201d<br>\nAll the servants held themselves from bursting into laughter as the king stepped down the stairs,<br>\n\u201cYou dare to laugh at a king!\u201d His yell echoing through the palace,<br>\n\u201cAt least a king even has a crown to wear and a tunic to show.\u201d A servant muttered to another.<br>\nHe then went down to the hall to count his gold,<br>\nBut as soon as the coins touched his finger tips they turned into a massive swarm of locusts, <br>\nThat ravaged the village&#8217;s crops,<br>\nMaking the king and his kingdom poor,<br>\nSome servants laughed and laughed, while others realized that they would go hungry that day. <br>\n\u201cYou all must cease your laughter! Or your head will be fed to the locusts!\u201d the king yelled. The room went silent.<br>\n He fixed his hair and took a breath. \u201cNow, what is on the schedule for today?\u201d<br>\n\u201cToday your wife is expected to give birth to your son, my king.\u201d A servant trembled. <br>\n\u201cGreat then, escort me to the birthing room where my wife lay.\u201d The king responded.<br>\nThe queen lay in the bed, nervous and stressed.<br>\n\u201cShe is in labor sir.
